Our Story

All Saints Diocese

Our diocese was formed by Bishop William Ilgenfritz in June 2009 with the formation of the Anglican Church in North America. Bishop Ilgenfritz was the first Bishop consecrated of Forward in Faith North America in the ACNA on 22 August 2009. Soon thereafter the Missionary Society of St. John became canonically resident within All Saints. In 2011, Bishop Richard Lipka joined, bringing with him several congregations. He became Suffragan Bishop for Bishop Ilgenfritz. Our diocese was formally recognized a full diocese in the ACNA in 2013.

On April 6, 2016, the Convocation of the West, formerly the Diocese of the West of the Reformed Episcopal Church joined the diocese as a group. With this action, All Saints truly is an affinity diocese stretching from coast to cost. In 2021 the second Bishop Ordinary, Rt. Rev. Richard Lipka, was elected to serve All Saints. His tenure set about organizing the diocese. He retired at the enthronement of his successor, Bishop Darryl Fitzwater, on the Feast of Thomas Cranmer in 2025.

The Diocese of All Saints is an affinity diocese of the Anglican Church in North America, comprising parishes in 16 American states: Washington, Arizona, Texas, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Florida, New York, Colorado, New Mexico, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Maine, Maryland, and Delaware, in addition to mission support around the world.

FORWARD IN FAITH

Forward in Faith North America (FiFNA) is a fellowship of people and churches who embrace the Gospel of Jesus Christ and uphold the Evangelical Faith and Catholic Order which is the inheritance of the Anglican Way. Our fellowship works, prays, and witnesses for reform and renewal of the Church with “no compromise of truth and no limitation of love.” Our fellowship includes faithful Anglicans spanning many jurisdictions and structures with the mission to witness to the “faith and order of the undivided Church.”

In 2009, this fellowship gave birth to a new diocese within the Anglican Church in North America, The Missionary Diocese of All Saints. Our Bishop Emeritus, William H. Illgenfritz, wrote, “We started this Missionary Diocese with nothing but the grace of God: no congregations, no church planters, and no money. We started exactly where God wanted us – totally dependent on His Providing. And then providing has begun.”
